Semax

Semax is the ACTH(4-10) fragment extended at the C-terminus with proline-glycine-proline. The parent fragment has no corticotropic activity — that resides elsewhere in the ACTH molecule — but retains neurotropic properties, and the added tripeptide tail dramatically slows aminopeptidase degradation. The published mechanism centres on BDNF and TrkB expression, with additional work on monoamine and melanocortin receptor systems.

It has an unusual research history: most of the foundational literature is Russian-language and predates widespread Western interest, which means the compound is better characterised than its visibility in English-language journals would suggest, but also that the primary sources are harder to access.
