AOD-9604

AOD-9604 is a 16-residue fragment corresponding to residues 176-191 of human growth hormone, with an added tyrosine at the N-terminus. The interest in the fragment is separability: the lipolytic activity attributed to growth hormone maps to this C-terminal region, while the growth-promoting and insulin-antagonising activities map elsewhere in the molecule. A fragment that retains one and not the other is a useful tool for dissecting which effects belong to which domain.

It is a short, well-behaved peptide with a disulfide bridge between the two cysteines, and correct disulfide formation is the main quality variable. Our release panel includes a reduced-versus-non-reduced HPLC comparison to confirm the bridge actually formed rather than assuming it.
